For now it looks like the variable that provides the challenge is time. Fun for scenarios but not freebuild. The concept is outstanding and the trade system works very well. In addition, its fun to work within the trading system. I would love to see more challenge around logistics by using tankers or oil rigs and having the ability to own fleets of both. That would introduce an entirely new overhead cost that would be fun the manage not to mention the challenge of seeting routes. Also, I dont know too much about oil drilling but I have to think there are more specialized buildings. I would love to see additional buildings. Employee issues like hiring, firing, assinging duties, shifts, etc...would be interesting. Again, it would add another level of financial management to the game. Again, overall its an outstanding game, fun to play and easy to learn. It provides enough challege right now to be worth the money. I anticipate future patch updates or add ons.. People seem to be complaining about the graphics but the designers made a choice to make it cartoony and the look is consistent so I'll say the graphics are pretty good for the style they went for and give it a pass on that front. Now here is what I don't like about the game and why I will give it a not recommend rating:1) The game world looks dead If the numbers weren't moving you'd swear the game had crashed because there is just about zero animation.2) Music is the techno equivalent of elevator music3) No vehicles or construction or roads or anything you just plop down facilities wherever you want.4) Extremely shallow financial\/production information. 5) No staff management at all. You can see little oil workers drawn in parking lots and outside of buildings but you don't hire them and they don't move. I guess it is just implied that you have staff. It looks good but it's a tablet game at best and the type of game you'd play while taking a long dump.. Oil enterprise is a Oil production company game, where you build up a empire and learning how to store and sell your oil on the black marked or through contracts. The game offers to play in different regions in-game, where you choose to place your firm down. You have test drilling, pump, Refinery, Logistics, Storage, Maintain, and Safety to work with. You will also have health for your buildings and machines, and a overview for what is needed to get more barrels pr.day to sell. The game currently d.13-08-2015, offers multiplayer which is in progress. The game is alot more fun playing agens people and fighting agens the best barrels pr.day or moste money in the current "free mode", that can take forever finish, but gives a good laugh if you play with the right people! - They are working on content for this which i see as a really good thing. If you like building up a firm, taking care of machines, safety, and maintain what you have while selling barrels of oils on the markedet to keep your income stable with a interesting oil firm feeling and exploring in regions, then this game is for you. Here is a demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY_TI1JVWiY. UPDATE 6/15/15More content has been added and the difficulty levels have been tweaked a bit. There's still more things I'd like to see adjusted, but as it stands, the game is pretty fun to play and am switching my recommendation from negative to positive. Kudos to the devs for being very active and releasing content on a quick & regular basis.---UPDATE 5/31/15The game has admittedly improved a bit since the posting of my original review. More campaign missions and a free play mode are now available, adding a lot of value to the game. I am enjoying this game a bit more now, though I do think it needs a bit more time to cook before I can recommend it at the $20 price (had it been cheaper, I would have recommended it). What I'd personally like to see is the difficulty levels balanced...that is, on easy settings (both scenarios and free play) have the maintenance costs of the buildings reduced so that folks can enjoy the game without worrying too much about the budget (yet still provide a "little" challenge). I also think the maintenance and safety structures aren't that effective and need the amount of maintenance/safety they provide increased or at least, decrease the maintenance costs of having them in the first place as you will need a LOT of them to handle all the pumps, refineries, and etc. you'll have out in the field. The game is still under development, so we'll see how this all plays out. For now, I recommend waiting a little longer. The devs have been pumping out content like crazy, so thankfully the wait should be short.---The game has promise, but it's not worth the $15 at this time. At present, the free play mode does not work and there's only two scenarios available (one of which is a tutorial that doesn't cover everything you need to know). I believe I figured most of it out through trial and error in that you can sell oil to either the market or via contracts...the former having a variable price while the latter having a fixed price. Logistics enable you to sell more per day, which is important if you intend to accept a lot of contracts. Expect to stumble your first few playthrus of the scenarios as it can get a little confusing. I would have liked a way to distinguish crude from refined oil, for example...they should really have their own separate resource count. That's not to say that it couldn't be something fantastic some day, but I'd only recommend it to dedicated fans who want to support the developers. As for the rest of you, I'd say wait a while until the game receives a bit more TLC and content.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6aLdQBLgOIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVnETyh5Qb4https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQvOb2vGYHo. By far the most stupid game ever that I've tried. It makes absolutely no sense and that is just the tutorial. DONT'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS RUBBISH!. This game is seriously overpriced: I played for not even 2 hours and filled half of a map already. It is sooooo repetitive: You build the same 5 buildings all the time to make more cash. Then you build more of those buildings to make even more cash and to be able to build more of those 5 buildings. Not really entertaining.(you can build more than 5 buildings but they are all the same. Only difference is the capacity)The music is very anoying too (ok, it can be muted but still)For 2\u20ac I would buy it, not for 18\u20ac. I asked for a refund. It's a fun game...alot like some of the older tycoon type games. You have to buy all the equipment needed to extract and sell the oil and manage profits and production wisely to not go bankrupt. However, This game needs more depth/strategy to it for it's price tag. (It is still early access and the dev's do seem to be still adding to it) After completing a few of the intro scenarios and 2 failed (bankrupt) attempts at free play I was able to devise a strategy that had great results for every new field I created and the game started to feel repetitive and a lot of busy work trying to keep an eye on all the logistics of the game instead of expanding further. The game is great small scale, the first couple hours of free play, but after you get a couple fields and maybe a second region going there isn't much strategy in expanding, mostly just a lot of busy work.Since it's still early access and I'm assuming the dev's want feedback, here's afew additions I would like to see in the game. (I'm not sure where elese I could post/send these)I think it would be great if there was a central location to look at all the logistics/data without having to jump between regions, oilfields, or buildings. If the contract page could be added to so I could just select what region I want to view the open and active contracts for. Also, in the contracts page I'd like to see a breakdown of what each fields production is and how long they have until they are depleted because signing a large 180 day contract when a field has less than 6 months before it's depleted has some expensive penalties. It would also be great if there was another window that again has a place to select a region and it shows all the logistics of that region. Basically a condensed location to see the condition, performance characteristics, and operating costs of each building in the region. Also, as for strategy additions. It would be great if buildings could be put into an idle mode where they require minimal operating costs so when prices are low in a certain region operating costs and production can be adjusted to wait it out instead of depleting the reserves with oil prices that make it hard to profit and expand...Also, it would be great if I could pack up and ship equipment/buildings to another field (for a fee of course). This way once a field has been depleted, the equipment can be repurposed instead of sitting around costing money or having to pay to take it down.. The game is awful. save your money.. At the time of this review, I'm only 4 hours in, but I think it is a decent game. For me, I work in the industry, and I know it is pretty complex, which explains why there isn't good simulators for it as opposed to aviation, rail, or even retail industry. What I found great about this game is even in its simplicity and cartoony style; it does capture the following:- The oil business is about optimizing processing.- Optimization is not a simple accomplishment, as the measurement of each processing segment doesn't match with adjacent pieces.- It not only includes exploration, development, processing, storage, and transport logistics, but marketing, mainenance, and safety.- When played fully, you need to get license to operate in different countries, you have to develop those regions differently, and the regions are not cookie cutter to other regions.- Contract management and ullage is well done.- I haven't been successful enough to develop the corporate offices yet, but from what I've seen of the build options, I think that was well considered, especially as a separate and segregated piece of regional development and processing, because that's how it is the major oil companies. There's some cons (graphic artifacts, some unnecessary menu clicking, maybe a bit too cartoony for the subject) about it as a game, and it does look like it could use a little more polish. And if the developer is considering an updated version in the future (thinking new paid release), then competition would be nice, even if it is just shown in the marketing aspects (something that explains why prices go up and down). But the cons are superficial in my view, because the game plays well and every other attempt I've seen for simulating the oil industry is far worse and completely unplayable. If you want to understand something about the business of oil, then this is the best game I think you can find. If you are just looking for another strategy/city builder game to play, then this might not be your best choice.. Whoever was unfortunate enough to waste just a single penny on this game, hasn't read any of the reviews. This is one of those 'let's call it a game, and rip off people as well as possible' developments. I can not put into words how bad this game is...leave alone all the glitches. No seriously - this is a WARNING - I have spent money to come to this conclusion, so that you won't have to. Don't waste your money on this.
